Antalya Airport to Kundu: the short run to the resort belt
Kundu is one of the largest resort belts on this coast, and the drive from Antalya Airport is short. The distance is 12 km and the usual driving time is about 18 minutes. On paper that is over almost before the seatbelt light goes off. A Turkey Transfer car is booked for your party only. Nobody else gets in or out along the way, and the vehicle goes straight to your resort.
Kundu is not a town with a centre and a main square. It is the stretch of coastline that picks up where Lara Beach ends and runs on toward the mouth of the Aksu River, just east of Antalya city. What sets it apart from the city-side beaches is space. The large all-inclusive resorts are spread along a wide sandy beach, backed in places by Turkish red pine, so even in the busy season the strip feels less cramped than the coast nearer the city.
Choose the resort, not just the Kundu label
Use the complete resort name from your accommodation confirmation when you book. This hotel belt includes properties addressed in Kundu and in Kemerağzı, both in the Aksu district. The word "Lara" also appears in many resort descriptions. That wording does not make a resort a city-coast hotel. If your accommodation address points to Lara's city neighbourhoods, check the separate Antalya Airport to Lara route instead.
Almost every plot in Kundu belongs to a hotel. The district has no old quarter and no shopping street of its own. A walk outside one gate mostly leads to the next gate, not to a village square. A Kundu hotel transfer therefore nearly always ends behind a resort's own security gate and not at a street-facing entrance. If you have the exact hotel name ready, the driver saves a slow turn through unfamiliar internal roads.
Three resort names that need different destination details
Some brand names cover more than one property. The brand alone cannot tell the driver where to go. Three examples show why the full name matters.
- Delphin Imperial. The hotel publishes its address as Kemerağzı, Yaşar Sobutay Bulvarı No. 344, Aksu. Keep the word "Imperial" in the booking. The Delphin name alone does not identify which property you intend to reach. Delphin Palace is a separate hotel in the same belt.
- Kremlin Palace. The hotel lists Kundu, Yaşar Sobutay Bulvarı, Kremlin Otel Sitesi No. 98/10, Aksu. Copy the property name from your voucher and confirm the guest arrival point with reception.
- Swandor Topkapı Palace. The address is Kundu Mahallesi Yaşar Sobutay Bulvarı No:100, 07112 Aksu. Confirm the reception drop-off with the hotel. A postal address does not tell you where a vehicle can actually stop.
Other resorts that guests often ask us about on this strip include Titanic Beach Lara, Delphin Palace, Nirvana Cosmopolitan and Royal Holiday Palace. Each property has its own habits. Some have a lobby set back from the road behind gardens. Some have a drop-off point nowhere near the beachfront entrance you would expect. A quote request on the booking form is not a confirmed booking, so check the property name and the address on your voucher before you confirm.
Meeting your driver at Antalya Airport
Antalya Airport splits arrivals across two international buildings, T1 and T2, and a separate hall for domestic connections. Whichever one your boarding pass or flight information names, the driver stands at that exit holding a board with your name. The wait is counted from touchdown and not from the moment you reach the belt. The allowance runs to 60 minutes if the queue is slow. A message to +90 551 086 83 68 covers anything the name board cannot.
To make the pickup run smoothly, send three things with your booking:
- Your arrival flight number.
- The local date of arrival.
- A contact number that works when you land.
The airport's official arrivals page shows terminal and flight-status information. Compare it with your booking instructions. Then complete the arrival formalities, collect your baggage and follow the agreed meeting directions. If your flight changes or your bags come late, tell the transfer contact so the driver knows.
Families, luggage and children
Count children in the passenger total when you book. Ask for any child seat explicitly and do not assume one will be in the car. Describe bulky luggage before you select a vehicle, so the transfer office can confirm that the car suits your group and any equipment you ask for. A larger family travelling together can also ask for a bigger vehicle. Everyone then arrives at the hotel in one car and does not split across separate taxis.
After a long flight, with bags and children, a named driver at the exit and a short ride to a gated resort is a simple way to end the day.
The drive itself
The car leaves the terminal and joins the coast road east. Within a few minutes the Lower Düden Waterfall is on the right, where the cliff drops freshwater into the sea. Then the road turns down into Kundu's own avenue, lined with resort gates. There is no old town and no mountain pass to add time here. The ground is flat for the whole 12 km.
That is why a late landing changes the mood of the drive far more than its length. By day you pass cliff, coast and the first gate-lined stretches of the resort strip. By night the road is quiet and the main sights are the lit hotel entrances.
Typical and busy times
The usual driving time is about 18 minutes. Treat it as a good-conditions figure. In the busy summer season the coast road carries many other transfers and hire cars, and a cluster of landings can add some minutes. A resort deep inside the strip also adds time inside its own grounds, because internal roads are slow and reception may be a distance from the gate.
Passport control and the baggage belt usually take longer than the road. The drive is the short and predictable part of the day.
Arriving at your Kundu resort
Most resorts here stand behind a security gate. The driver gives the hotel name at the gate, and the guards direct the car to the guest arrival point. That point is not always where the beachfront entrance looks like it should be. Some lobbies are set back from the road behind gardens, and a few drop-off areas are away from the main frontage.
A few practical points help at the door:
- Check the hotel's check-in time against your arrival. After an early landing a room may not be ready yet.
- If you land in the small hours and the lobby is quiet, reception staff will still know the arrival point. Tell the driver if you have a late arrival message from the hotel.
What Kundu is like, and who it suits
Kundu is family-resort country. Water parks, multiple pools, evening shows and kids' clubs are the normal things here. Plenty of guests never leave the hotel grounds for their whole stay, and that is a perfectly good way to spend a holiday. The resorts are large, and a number of them include a water park or a private beach frontage inside the gate.
The nearby Lara strip is smaller. Its hotel list leans toward apart-hotels with a kitchenette in place of a buffet. Kundu carries far more rooms. Dozens of large all-inclusive names line the shore here.
This helps you choose the right base:
- Families with children get the most from Kundu. Pools, clubs, shows and wide sand mean the children have plenty to do without leaving the grounds.
- Couples and groups of friends who want a beach and a pool without planning each day will find the same all-inclusive rhythm.
- Guests who want to walk to cafés, shops and a town square will not find them here. The district has barely a permanent population, and outside one gate you mostly find the next resort. For a town feel, look at the old town side of the city and plan a day trip.
The line between Kundu and its neighbours runs through the hotel list more than through the map. A name that sounds like one district can sit under a different fare zone. This is another reason to book with the full hotel name and not just the area.
The beach and the resort evenings
The beach is the main reason to come. It is a wide sandy shore, and the pine forest behind it gives the strip more shade and more green than the open coast closer to the city.
Evenings follow the hotel. Most guests eat at their resort and watch the evening show. For a change of scene, a taxi ride takes you to the city for a meal outside the buffet, or to one of the malls. If you go out late, plan the return ride in advance, because a hotel gate is not a place where you can easily flag a car down.
Places worth a day out from Kundu
You can have a whole holiday without leaving your resort, but several places lie within a short ride. We run these as simple trips: one way, or return with waiting time if you want the driver to bring you back.
- Lower Düden Waterfalls. Freshwater falls that tumble straight into the sea near Lara. It is a quick ride from Kundu and a good place for photographs, especially toward sunset. You also pass it on the airport road.
- Antalya Aquarium. One of the longest tunnel aquariums in the world, and a strong choice for families. It is roughly 20 to 25 minutes by taxi from Kundu.
- Kaleiçi and the harbour. This is Antalya's old town. It has cobbled lanes, Hadrian's Gate, old Ottoman houses and the fluted minaret. It lies about half an hour away and is worth the trip if you want a sense of the city beyond the resort belt.
- Aspendos. One of the best-preserved Roman theatres anywhere, still used for performances. It is further out, at around 40 to 45 minutes, but it makes an easy day trip.
- Perge and Sillyon. Two separate Roman sites for guests with an interest in archaeology. Sillyon lies further off than Perge.
- Kurşunlu Waterfall Nature Park. A shaded river walk and not a single viewpoint. It is a good inland option that does not need a full day away from the pool.
- Deepo Outlet Center. A short detour inland. It helps if the suitcase forgot something.
- TerraCity and Mall of Antalya. The two main malls for proper shopping, or for a meal outside the hotel.
The Land of Legends needs its own plan
The Land of Legends theme park and its water rides lie in Kadriye. They are close enough for a half-day out, but the park is a separate outing. It is not automatically a stop on the airport journey to your Kundu hotel. Arrange the hotel-to-park transport and the return pickup separately. Check the park's current ticket conditions for admission, because an airport transfer booking does not include park entry. If you want the driver to take extra distance or to wait, agree that before you add the visit.
Late-night and early-morning flights
Many flights into Antalya land late at night or in the small hours. A night arrival is normal for this route and does not need a special arrangement beyond giving the correct flight number. The driver follows the flight, so a delay moves the pickup time. The wait allowance of up to 60 minutes from touchdown covers a slow queue.
At that hour the road to Kundu is quiet, and the 18 minutes pass easily. Your main concern is the hotel end. Tell the resort that you arrive late, so reception is ready and your room is available. If you arrive in the early morning, expect to wait for check-in and ask the hotel about breakfast and a place to leave your bags.
For an early-morning departure, agree the pickup time the evening before.
Returning from Kundu to the airport
For the return, check the full hotel name again and confirm where the vehicle will collect you. Many large resorts have more than one exit, and the car should wait at the one the hotel names. Share any hotel change before the return journey, so the pickup address stays correct.
The drive back takes the same 18 minutes in good conditions, but do not plan your day around that figure alone. Set the collection time around your departure flight and your airline's check-in requirements, and allow for road conditions. Leave extra time in the busy summer season. Add time for checking out, for loading the luggage and for the walk from the lobby to the car in a large resort.
Because the route is flat and direct, leave with a comfortable margin and spend any spare time at the airport.
At the airport, the driver drops you at the terminal for your flight. International flights use T1 or T2, and your airline information tells you which.
When to visit Kundu
The summer season is the main time for the resort strip. The beach, the pools and the evening shows are at their busiest then, and so are the roads around the airport.
Much of the strip closes for refurbishment between November and March. The handful of hotels that stay open handle the quiet season largely on their own. If you plan a winter stay, confirm that your hotel is open and that its restaurants and pools operate.
Add a return date and pickup time to the same booking, and the fare for that leg appears before you confirm anything. With the right hotel name, a flight number and a clear pickup point at both ends, the 12 km from Antalya Airport to the Kundu resort belt is the simplest part of your holiday.
Your last day in Kundu before an evening flight
An evening departure leaves you a full day that many guests waste. The room is due back at midday, but the flight is hours away. A little planning turns that gap into a proper last day.
Ask reception about luggage storage after check-out. Large resorts handle this request every day. Once the bags are stored, you can use the beach and pools until the afternoon, then change before the car arrives.
The airport is 12 km away and the drive takes about 18 minutes in good conditions. You do not need to leave the coast early to be safe. You do need to set the collection time from your flight and not from the length of the drive. Add time for check-out, for loading bags and for the walk from a distant block to the car.
For a half-day outing, choose something on the city side. Kaleiçi works well, because its lanes are easy to cover on foot and you can sit in a harbour café until the car comes. Agree the pickup point before you leave the hotel, so the driver knows whether to collect you from the resort or from the old town.
Food and shopping beyond the buffet
All-inclusive hotels feed you well, but Antalya has its own table. A night out in the city is worth one evening of your week.
- Piyaz. Antalya's white bean salad, served with tahini, onion and parsley. It often comes beside grilled meatballs.
- Şiş köfte. Grilled minced-meat skewers, a common lunch dish around the city.
- Hibeş. A tahini-based spread eaten with bread. Look for it at traditional restaurants in town.
- Fresh citrus. The Antalya region is known for oranges, and a glass of pressed juice is easy to find at cafés and market stalls.
Kaleiçi has the widest choice of small restaurants and gift shops. If you plan to eat in town, arrange your ride back to the resort gate in advance.
Large groups and holiday gear
Kundu suits groups. The beach is wide, and the resorts have room for several generations or for friends who travel together. The transfer is the one moment when a group can easily split apart.
Count everyone, including children and babies, before you choose the vehicle. A group that fits in one larger car arrives together and is easy to spot at the arrivals exit.
At a big resort, the group may not sleep in the same building. On departure day, pick one meeting point, such as the main lobby, and tell everyone the time. The driver then waits in one place and not at three blocks.
Guests with sports equipment should say so at booking. Typical examples are bicycles, golf bags and diving cases. The transfer office can then check that the vehicle has room for the equipment as well as the suitcases. Keep items you need on arrival, such as medicines and snacks for children, in your hand luggage.
Summer crowds or shoulder season
In high summer the beaches, pools and evening shows are at their busiest. The sun is strong at midday, so most guests rest in the shade and go out again late in the day. Open sites such as Aspendos or Perge are more comfortable early in the morning. A walk around Kaleiçi is better at the end of the day.
In spring and autumn the strip is calmer. Air temperatures are gentler, which suits walking and sightseeing. The Mediterranean stays warm for a long time after summer, so a beach day is still possible in early autumn. Check that your resort's pools, restaurants and entertainment are running, because services vary between hotels outside the main season.
More to see along the coast and in the city
A few other places are worth a half day.
- Düden Park and the Upper Düden Waterfalls. The upper falls sit inside a park in the city. They pair well with the lower falls near the sea.
- Konyaaltı Beach. The long pebble beach on the west side of Antalya, with mountains behind it. It is a strong contrast with Kundu's sand and pines.
- Harbour boat trips. Short boat rides leave from the old harbour and show the cliffs from the water.
- Side. An ancient town on the coast east of Kundu, with a Roman theatre and a temple by the sea. It lies further than Aspendos, so start early.
Tell the driver what you want from the day. Turkey Transfer can arrange a one-way ride or a return trip with waiting time.
